Flatten hierarchy data into DSO ?

Is there a way other than ABAP code for Hier extractor to load the data from the Hierarchy datasource to a DSO ?  basically we want the data in the hierarchy structure to be flattened out in a DSO.  Can we use multiple rule groups within a transformation to achieve this?  Please help  Thank you   Sainath
